Step 6

Submit Your Application In-Person (My VFS Manila Experience – 2025 Update)

After booking your appointment, you’ll need to submit your application in person at the VFS Global Germany Visa Application Center in Makati/Cebu with the date you choose.

⏱️ How Long Does It Take?
From my personal experience in 2025:

  • Document submission + interview with the VFS officer took about 10–15 minutes, depending on how complete your documents are.
  • Biometrics and payment took another 15 minutes.
  • I stayed inside for around 2 hours total, including waiting time.

-You’re allowed to enter only 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment.
-Backpacks, laptops, and power banks are NOT allowed inside.
-Locker services are available for a fee, but to save time and money, just bring: Your complete documents
-No photos or videos are allowed inside the center.

Avoid wearing white tops. I wore a white long sleeve shirt on my photos and was asked to retake the photo at the VFS photo booth.
Wear a dark-colored or bright top (blouse or polo) to contrast with the white background.

Step 7

Wait for Visa Processing (What to Expect)

After submitting your application, you’ll need to wait for it to be processed by the German Embassy.

Processing time is usually around 15 working days, but it may take longer during peak seasons or if additional documents are requested.

What to Expect

VFS Global will send updates via email, so ensure your email address is active and check it regularly, including your spam folder.

You also have the option to add SMS notifications (for an additional fee) if you want to get updates via text.

You will receive an email update when your decision has been returned to the Visa Application Centre. If you can’t access email easily, or would like more detailed tracking information, you may also be able to get updates by SMS sent directly to your phone. Check whether this service is available at the Visa Application Centre you are visiting . You can also track your visa application status online. Use the Reference Number present on the invoice/receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre along with your last name to access this service.

I’ve applied for a Schengen visa four (4) times, and while the email notifications always worked, the SMS service didn’t always send messages. Because of this, I decided not to pay for the SMS service on my most recent application. The email updates were more than enough to stay informed .

Step 8

Receive Your Passport (Fast Delivery in 2025!)

Once your visa has been processed, you’ll receive an email update from VFS Global letting you know the status of your passport.
There are two delivery options:
Pick-up at the VFS Visa Center (Makati or Cebu)
Courier delivery to your address (if you availed of the delivery service during your appointment.

Just three (3) days after submitting my application, I received an email from VFS notifying me that my passport was already on its way to my address. I was genuinely surprised by the speed — I hadn’t expected it so quickly.

The courier then took another three days to deliver it to my home. In total, I got my passport back within just six days!

Ensure your email is active and accessible, as all updates will be sent there.

You may opt for SMS alerts; however, I personally stopped using this service since I never received any messages during my previous applications.

If you choose courier delivery, make sure someone is available to receive the passport, as a signature is required upon delivery.

Processing and delivery this 2025 seems to be much faster than in previous years — so always keep an eye on your inbox after submission!Receive Your Passport (Fast Delivery in 2025!)
